Tall Pines Worker Notice Nov 19

Tall Pines Worker Notice November 19, 2015

STILL NEED MORE WORKERS
We are just over a week away from the 2015 Rally of the Tall Pines.  At this point we can get by if everyone shows up, but we really would prefer to have about 20 more volunteers. We could use about another 5 radio operators for mid-stage Traffic Control positions and about 15 more people to assist with timing controls at HQ and at stage starts & finishes, security and crowd control. We are fine for Thursday and Friday. If you have been holding off for whatever reason or know of someone who would be willing to assist, have them contact me at ross@tallpinesrally.com

WORKER ASSIGNMENTS

We have just posted your Worker Assignments on the Tall Pines website and directions for meeting your stage teams, but in the interest of protecting your privacy as it contains all your full names, for the Worker assignments list, we have created a hidden link at
http://tallpinesrally.com/downloads/Worker_Assignments_2015.xlsx
The Meeting Locations list can be found at
xxxxx

If you have any difficulty accessing these links, contact us directly at   worker_registration@tallpinesrally.com
Please do NOT pass these links on to others.

If you find any problems with your assignments, get back to us ASAP. Note – preparing the assignments is a very complex task. A change for one volunteer almost always has a domino effect, so unless there is a real problem with your assignments, we would appreciate if you would accept them as they are. We really did try to accommodate all your requests, as best we could.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY ASSIGNMENTS
As you will see when you check the Assignments list, Saturday’s are pretty much completed and Friday’s are well underway. If you see a TBD by your name for Thursday or Friday, rest assured that we still need you, but that is still a work in progress. In fact we have found that it is best to leave some unspecified until you arrive to give us a bit more flexibility in covering off our needs. When you arrive on Thursday or Friday, first see Carole Koch to get registered, then if you need clarification re your duties, see Greg McGrath.
All Thursday volunteers will receive instructions directly from me by email early next week.

ACCOMMODATIONS
As for the Subsidized Worker Accommodations , Limerick Lake Lodge is full, but there are a few spots left at Elmer’s and Cedar  Ridge Camp. Sign up in the Worker Section of the website. If you have problems, contact Trish at accommodations@tallpinesrally.com
E TIMING REFRESHER
We can still handle a few more participants in the e timing refresher session. It will be held on Friday evening before the General Worker meeting. Contact Ross  ross@tallpinesrally.com if interested and I will send you details.

FOOD AT RALLY HQ
Arrangements have been completed with a caterer to have food and drink available at Rally HQ  on Friday from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. We will try to have more details in the next Worker Notice week.

BEING PREPARED
The roads are in great shape and all gravel at the moment. At this point I wouldn’t want to predict if they will be snow-covered, part gravel or what next weekend, although the long-range forecast is calling for snow. Early next week we should know better. Nevertheless we highly recommend that you have your winter tires on.
For those of you who will be working controls, be sure to bring suitable clothing, food & drink and a flashlight or headlamp and spare batteries

For the HAM operators, the main frequency for the weekend will be 147.285+ with a tone of 118.8. The two other repeater frequencies are 146.610- with a tone of 100.0, the solar repeater on 147.180 + (no tone) and 147.000 (no tone). Simplex frequencies are 146.520, 146.550 and 146.580. Be sure to have them all programmed in your radio.

TALL PINES LIVE
In the last Worker Notice we told you about Tall Pines Live. Well Tall Pines Live is now live! Have a look at www.tallpineslive.com  There is still a bit of fine tuning to be done, but you will get the idea.
WORKER DOCUMENTS
A majority of the Worker Documents have now been posted on the Pines website at www.tallpinesrally.com  Go to Workers, Worker Info Centre and Worker Documents. Please take the time before next weekend to go over these documents carefully.

THE START ORDER LIST
Things are shaping up really well for next weekend. We have a smaller number of entries than we would like, but it is a quality field  - check it out in the Competitor section of the Pines website - a really hot competition is shaping up.

DOMAIN ISSUES
We have been made aware that volunteers who have their email with certain domains may not be receiving our notices and we are working on it. One seems to be outlook.com  If you are with outlook.com and DO receive this notice, please let us know.

GENERAL WORKER MEETING
Remember that the general Worker Meeting will be held at 9 PM on Friday, November 27 at Rally HQ in the Dungannon Rec Centre.   For those of you coming for the first time, Rally HQ is located on the E side of Hwy 62 S about 7 km S of Bancroft (street address is 26596 Hwy 62 S, L’Amable, ON – coordinates N45 00.873 W077 47.164 phone 613-332-1325).  There will be lots of giveaways at the Worker Meeting, including two HAM radios, courtesy of Justin Cohen and Mat Janiak.

There will likely be one final Worker Notice next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Bancroft.
