I am putting out a feeler. We may be about to pull the trigger on a car purchase and am looking to sell our current car. Just want to see if there’s any private interest before any trade-in discussion at the dealer.
It’s a 2008 Vibe (equiv to a Toyota Matrix), so a Toyota Corolla underneath. Charcoal grey, no rust, one tiny surface rust spot at top of front windshield, I keep spraying Krown oil spray into it. 1.8 litre 4 cyl, 4-speed automatic with lock-up converter. ABS but no traction control.
- Originally an American car, I bought it in June 2009. (Some mileages below in miles, some in km, sorry.) Dashboard in miles, not an easy conversion so never bothered.
- odo = 156,000 miles (about 255,000 km)
- most reliable and dependable car I’ve ever owned, nothing important has ever broken; middle part of LCD on radio now fading; replaced intake manifold gasket last winter (common item on this engine), struts changed at about 150,000 km, brake pads and rotors changed once, still good, original rears; not many body dings
- oil changed every 5000-7000 miles; automatic transmission fluid changed at 100,000 and 200,000 km
- A/C works fine, AM/FM/CD works fine; rear wiper and defroster work fine
- original OEM steel rims 205/55-16 with hub caps,1 year on summer tires (Toyos); 195/65-15 winter rims with Kumho snow tires (now in 2nd winter) . Going to narrower/taller snow tires best decision ever. Was tempted to to the same for summers too, 205 is too much tire for this car, imho, but I think all cars run too much tire these days. I’m old-fashioned and want 70 series tires again. Cheaper and more comfortable. Who races Vibes?
- looking for $4500 or so, certified and e-teste, less if you want to look after that yourself
