Thanks for your part in making the 2014 Rally of the Tall Pines another great success. Moving the event a week later last year and again this year achieved exactly what we were hoping – the cold snap on Thursday & Friday froze the roads solid; in fact it was really difficult in places to pound the stakes into the ground, even using the steel ‘podger’ to create the hole. The dry, rock-hard surfaces lead to record fast stage times.

The teamwork and professionalism of the workers was amazing. Experienced workers mentored the new volunteers and you moved quickly to fill in gaps as needed without complaint. We finished on time to minute.

On Thursday and Friday about 80 of you helped with event preparation, competitor recce and Shakedown. Saturday saw around 210. Thanks especially to the 16 of you who helped clean up late last night and today. We were all done by noon.

With their decisive win, Antoine L’Estage/Alan Ockwell set a number of records. It was Antoine’s 5th Pines win and Alan’s 4th. Antoine has made a clean sweep of the CRC season, which is a first ever. He now has seven Canadian Driver’s Championships, while Alan has three. Second Overall went to Alex Beland/Philippe Poirier with a great drive, while third O/A was claimed by Sylvain/Vincent/Simon Vincent. Martin Rowe/Nathalie Richard were running in second when they had a big crash in stage 15 (Lower Old Hastings). They say there are sore today, but will be fine.  In the CRC 2WD Will Hudson/John Hall dominated in their R2 Ford Fiesta, followed by Martin Walter/Ferdinand Trauttmansdorff and Simon Dube/Pat Lavigne.

In the Regional event Martin Donnelly/Angela Cosner’s win clinched Overall in the Ontario Championship (OPRC). Second O/A went to Martin and Ferdinand, with Ian Crerar/Jen Horsey taking third. In the OPRC 2WD, Martin and Ferd came first with Gary Sutherland/Yevgeniy/Gospodinov in second and Zoltan Kovacs/Guy Boudreau in third.
