Tall Pines Work Day Details
10/23/14 at 05:12:37

This notice is going out to everyone who has either indicated on their Tall Pines online Worker Registration or by email that you will be attending the Tall Pines Work Day, this Saturday, October 25th. We could still use more help, so if you know anyone else who could come, please recruit them and advise me.There are a number of tasks to be done in Bancroft on Saturday including:
•      Posting road closure notices as required by our road permission contracts
•      Delivering letters to residents on the roads that are used as stages
•      Checking stage roads and our security notes about them
•      Doing minor repairs to stage roads,  including filling some washouts and removing exposed rocks
•      Brushing and other preparation of spectator areas and control zones
•      Erecting snow-fencing at the Golton Spectator Area
•      Weed-whacking at the Iron Bridge Spectator Area
•      Testing HAM repeater system
•      Removing trees that are hanging too close to the road
•      Various errands in Bancroft
•      Planning re the HQ/Service Park area
If you are already committed to a specific task or if you are unable to attend, please advise me ASAP by e mail.

Morning Meeting Location:
On Saturday we will meet at Dungannon Recreation Centre between 10:00 and 10:30 A.M.  To get there from Bancroft (Jnctn of Hwy 28 & 62) go south on Hwy. 62 for about 7.4 km from Bancroft. Turn left into the Rec Centre parking lot (big white building). From the south, the Rec Centre is about 15 km north of Hwy 620. Coordinates are N45 00.873   W 077 49.939
Afternoon Meeting Location:
If you can’t come until later in the day or miss us,  try to contact us on the radio or by phone or by texting (cell reception is really sketchy out on the stages). Otherwise just go to the Golton Spectator Stage via the Fish & Game Club driveway – coordinates N 45 00.873  W 077 49.939.
Be Prepared:
Come well prepared with food,  drink and lots of warm clothing.  Gloves are advised.  If you have any tools like shovels, rakes, picks and pry bars, saws or clippers, please bring them along.
We have a lot of weed-whacking and brush removal to do at the Iron Bridge Spectator Area, so if you have a power weed-whacker, chain saw etc., please bring them.
If you may be going out on the forest roads to work, it would be wise to bring an orange safety vest. Unfortunately we cannot provide one for you  on Saturday as they are on loan to Rallye Defi and have not made their way back to us yet.
HAM Radio Frequencies:
For those of you who have HAM radio,  the frequency for the day will be 146.610- tone 100.0  with 146.275- tone 118.8 as back-up. We will also be testing the 147.000 (no tone) repeater, which is back on the air after a lengthy absence and the 147.180 (no tone) solar repeater.
Worker Registration:
If you have not already signed up on the Worker Information Center website and updated or created a worker profile for this year's event, please do so if you can help us again this year. Visit www.tallpinesrally.com and click on “Workers“. We really heavily on that profile for our planning. If you have any difficulty with that, contact, contact me directly at ross@tallpinesrally.com
Thanks in advance for helping on the Work Day.
Ross Wood,  Clerk of the Course VE3WOD  ross at tallpinesrally dot com
