Tall Pines Work Day:
This Saturday, October 22nd, is our Work Day in Bancroft for the Rally of the Tall Pines. There are a number of tasks to be done in Bancroft on Saturday including:
• Posting road closure notices as required by our road permission contracts
• Delivering letters to residents on the public roads that are used as stages
• Checking stage roads and our security notes about them
• Doing minor repairs to stage roads, including filling some minor washouts and removing exposed rocks
• Brushing and other preparation of spectator areas and control zones
• Testing HAM repeater system
• Removing trees that are hanging too close to the road
• Various errands in Bancroft
We can use lots of bodies to assist with these tasks. According to our records, you have already volunteered, either according to your Worker Profile, by email or by word of mouth. If you are already committed to a specific task, please advise me ASAP by e mail.If it turns out you will not be attending, please email me.
Morning Meeting Location:
On Saturday we will meet at Dungannon Recreation Centre between 10:00 and 10:30 A.M. To get there from Bancroft (Jnctn of Hwy 28 & 62) go south on Hwy. 62 for about 7.4 km from Bancroft. Turn left into the Rec Centre parking lot (big white building). From the south, the Rec Centre is about 15 km north of Hwy 620. Coordinates are N45 00.873 W 077 49.939
Afternoon Meeting Location:
If you can’t come until later in the day or miss us, try to contact us on the radio or by phone or by texting (cell reception is really sketchy out on the stages). You can look for us on the Egan Creek stage roads. Follow Hwy 62 south from Bancroft for about 10 km. Turn Left onto Upper Turriff Rd. Go about 10 km to the beginning of the Egan Creek roads complex.. Some of the roads that we will be working on include Swordfingal, V Lake, Grassy Lake Trail, Birch Lake Trail and Arda Trail. You might also look for us at the Iron Bridge or Golton Spectator areas.
Be Prepared:
Come well prepared with food, drink and lots of warm clothing. Gloves are advised. If you have any tools like shovels, rakes, picks and pry bars, saws or clippers, please bring them along.
HAM Radio Frequencies:
For those of you who have HAM radio, the frequency for the day will be 146.610- tone 100.0 with 146.580 simplex as back-up.
