TALL PINES WORKER THANKS Nov 22 10
11/22/10 at 22:25:44

Well you did it again – another great Rally of the Tall Pines – great roads, great competition and great organization. Thanks to all of you, the volunteers. To quote  one of the top co-drivers, “Organization was superb and every aspect of the event was totally professional.  From talking with other competitors, the Egan Creek/Mayo Lake stages are some of the best in the country.  Everyone was raving about them.” Over the entire day, we never fell more than two minutes behind schedule and we introduced two firsts: (1) an on-route Reseed and (2) full Social Media postings from Rally Headquarters.

On Friday over 100 of you helped with event preparation, competitor recce and Shakedown. Saturday saw 225!  We just keep growing.

Many of you stepped up enthusiastically to new challenges and handled them beautifully. Pat yourselves on the back.

The battle for the win was intense between  Pat Richard/Alan Ockwell and Antoine L’Estage/Nathalie Richard for the Canadian Championship. They traded seconds in many stages, but in the end the Evo ran cleanly for the win. That also gave Antoine & Nathalie the triple crown – North American, Rally America and Canadian Rally Championships all in one year. Don’t know what they can do next year to follow that.  Check out full event Results at  http://www.rallyscoring.com/results/2010/TallPines/index.htm

Your comments and constructive criticism of ways to improve the event are always welcome. Send them to me ASAP, as we have a Pines Committee debriefing this weekend.

Unfortunately the weekend ended on a very sad note with a highway collision for two new Pines volunteers –

The Rally of the Tall Pines regrets to inform the rally community of the loss of Sabina Sima on Saturday evening November 20, 2010. Following the conclusion of the Rally of the Tall Pines, Sabina and another worker were involved in a tragic two vehicle collision that took her life.  We offer deepest condolences to the Sima family and pray for the speedy recovery of the two other injured parties.

For further information please see the attached news release from the Ontario Provincial Police. http://www.crimealerts.net/bancroft.htm  Additional information will be provided when it is available.

Mike Koch
Coordinator

We will post further news as we receive it.

See you on November 25-26, 2011. Please mark it on your calendar now.

Thanks again.
