HELP!!! I have a question.
I am having a heck of a time finding a place to run the power wire for my HAM through the firewall and to the battery. The car is a 99 VWassat.
I have checked the wiring diagrams and there is 4 guage wire directly from the battery (hot all the time) that feeds the relay panel under the dash and a ground nearby. Would I be able to just hook-up here instead of going to the battery?

Dave, should be fine... radio use it typically sporatic... not like a rad fan or headlights which are constantly drawing power. Just be aware of the fact that you may be adding extra load when you've got a bunch of other stuff running.

Unless you are running an HF rig that draws upwards of 40 amps at full tilt, that 4 gauge wire will be more than enough to run the average 2 metre or dual band rig all day long (or at least until you kill the battery
