As for the Mercedes, I believe it was Sean ( not sure of last name ) from Kitchener with Ean Robertson co-driving. I've been away, but when I got home I dug through the boxes in my basement.

Here are the Final Results of the 1992 Black Bear Rally, held on June 13th in Minden, Ontario (first number position in Stage One; second number Overall Finish positions):

1/1 - Frank & Dan Sprongl - Audi

2/19 - Wojtek Grabowski & Marsha Grabowski - Celica All Trac

3/2 - Tom McGeer & Trish Sparrow (not married yet) - Subaru Legacy (brand new car sponsored by Subaru)

4/3 - Richard Sharpe & Ian MacRae - Corolla GTS

5/17 - Charles Hammer & Patrick Peloquin - Golf

6/DNF - Barry & Sandra Latreille - Ford Escort

7/5 - Kevin O'Dea & Gord Tracz - Audi

8/9 - Bob Elliott (later became Liz Campbell) & Terry Epp - Golf

9/4 - Ari Montonen & Brian Maxwell - Suzuki (this one was not one of the Cdn 10 - came from Europe)

10/DNF - Yoshio Kinoshita & Gary Murakami - Corolla GTS

11/6 - Kevin Inkpen & H. Tyler - Corolla (Note - I later ran with Kevin and we won the Cdn Production Championship - pretty sure it was in Ari's Montonen's Suzuki)

12/DNF - Pete Pollard & T. Smith - VW Scirocco

14/20 - Tony Lee & Eric Curtis - Datsun 510

15/DNF - C. Szobczak & K. DeLoughary - VW Rabbit

16/11 - Carlos Oliveira & A. Tavares - VW Rabbit

17/18 - Lawrence Renaud & Gord Blanusa - Nissan 200 SX

18/8 - J. Kujawinski & I. Niedwiecki - Corolla GTS

19/10 - Ian McEwen & Sheila McEwen - Corolla GTS

20/14 - Luis Oliveira & Rui Coehlo - VW Golf

21/12 - Philip Assad & Mike Pfeifer - VW Golf

22/DNF - Maskus & Trott - Conquest

23/13 - Peter Reilly & B. Muir - VW Golf

24/16 - Barry Spinner & Roger Sanderson - Suzuki (one of the 10)

25/15 - Paul Henshall & P. Mansueti - Suzuki (one of the 10)

26/DNF - Robert Jekosz & A. Wolski - Corolla GTS

Now it will make more sense when you watch the video, knowing who they are.

This sure brings back some memories. It would be great if people could find other old photos etc. I have all the Results.

BTW the route was very similar to the 2005 Black Bear with one small stage dropped off. HQ was at the Minden Arena and Finish was at Hart Lodge on Hwy. 35.

Entry fee was $235.

I also have all the stage record speeds. Will do a comparison to last year - pretty sure some old records will still stand.
