Yet another newby looking to start
12/14/5 at 19:41:13
Ok, I am yet another newby drawn in by the action and excitement of rallying in Canada but unsure where to start.
Specifically, I would like to know from which governing body or association in Ontario (CARS, RSO or other) can I obtain the rules regarding cars (classes, specs etc.) to determine which vehicle to start (simple) with in rally racing...? In other words, where do I get the rules to determine which cars with what mods (if any) fit into which classes...?
This is likely a simple question to answer for those "in the loop", but I am confused. Advice and guidance is welcome.

Order a rule book from CARS. You may want to wait until the 2006 rules are available. You could borrow a 2005 rulebook to look at classes.
Just add Group 5 for 2006. Yay!!!

If you cant wait for rule book check
www.carsrally.ca
the regs are downloadable in pdf file.
And if you are really impatient it would be best to buy a well prepared and log booked car that is ready to go.....
Like my swift gt
not too crazy but very capable to win its class
check it out in the for sale section
Cheers

I saw these PDFs but they appear to be part of some other comprehensive rules document. There are diagrams, part B and Part C, and a Bulletin. I don't want to miss a detail, can CARS provide the whole document..?

Have a look at:
http://209.250.151.132/CARSRally/Default.aspx?tabid=88
There's a form at the bottom of the page. Rulebooks cost $15, and they are included if you get a competition licence.

Dare I add that it would be good if you also volunteered a few times at both types of rally to learn more about the sport than the teeny tiny portion you see on the telly screen, or at a spectator area?

Thanx for the tip, although I have participated in TSD events through MLRC. Additional exposure to the sport through volunteering cannot hurt.
