Title: Revised RallyCross & RallySprint Regulations Post by rosswood on 01/02/15 at 07:17:32 Below are the links for the revised CARS Rally Cross & Rally Sprint Regulations, as announced in CARS Bulletins 2014-08 & 2014-09. RallyCross – CARS Bulletin 2014-08 http://www.carsrally.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=193%3Abulletin-2014-08&catid=1%3Acars-news&Itemid=14&lang=en RallySprint – CARS Bulletin 2014-09 http://www.carsrally.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=196%3Abulletin-2014-09-&catid=1%3Acars-news&Itemid=14&lang=en These revised Regulations take effect January 1, 2015 and will be included in the 2015 CARS Rulebook. In rewriting these Regulations we decided to separate Rally Cross from Rally Sprint. Rally Cross will appear as Section 28, while Rally Sprint will be Section 29. As was our stated intention from the start, we made a number of changes to the Rally Cross Regulations, but most do not require major changes in practice . Many of the changes were to clarify issues in the existing Regulations. With Rally Sprint we intended from the beginning of the process to make major changes in order to bring Rally Sprint back to the originally intended middle ground between Rally Cross and Performance Rally, particularly with regard to cost to the competitor, while maintaining a high level of safety. This has been a long and involved process with numerous compromises to satisfy different Regions and Clubs as best we could. The Committee also had to consider safety and liability issues from the viewpoint of CARS, the sanctioning body. I believe we have achieved the goals. The new Regulations stipulate lower speeds for Rally Sprint than Performance Rally, while still allowing good competition on real stage roads. Thus we were able to institute different requirements for safety equipment, thereby resulting in major reductions in expenses. For example, while six point roll cages are required, many different cage designs will meet the requirements of these Regulations. Other cages will be able to comply with minor modifications. Our research has found that acceptable ready-made cages are available at very reasonable costs. If you have any questions about either the Rally Cross or Rally Sprint Regulations, do not hesitate to contact us.
